(Curating works in relation to eachother, on walls)
I have categorised the work i did during this semester for the purpose of this website : but in fact they are not meant to be presented as separate (the abstracted, the figurative, the whatever,...)
This is another area I want to go deeper into in the next semester (taking the work out of the studio, and curating it in relation to eachother but also the space they are in - like for example a gallery in the university)
combining the works under projects of `birds` and those of ´boobs` and portraits of lounging women on the same wall (next to eachother) changes/influences the meanings of the individual paintings.
The bird family portrait perhaps no longer says so much about the life of birds, but of the woman who is portrayed next to it (imagining her family/ their relationships and hyerarchies)
Perhaps when the painting of the ashtray is situated in the direction of the gaze of the lounging woman the ashtray is in fact hers, claimed by her ´gaze´ ( and she is thus more real/ characterised because she also has belongings, like you !)
below are more images of the studio wall and the changing arrangement of the paintings - for me a useful exercise also for creating new ideas.
